Library and Safe Space
October 16th, 2008The LGBT Library & Safe Space is a space on campus for place for all lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer, questioning and curious students, where you can meet friends, get advice ranging from sexual health to where to go out, and borrow books or DVDs from our library. You can also use the Safe Space as a refuge or just somewhere quiet to come and work.
The LGBT library has over a hundred books and DVDs that anyone can borrow. There’s a lot of choice: from gay travel guides to biographies and poetry to sex guides and DVDs as diverse as TransAmerica, the Laramie Project, The L Word, and Philadelphia. We also have lots of leaflets on topics including local support groups, sporting clubs, HIV, religion and getting work with LGBT-friendly employers.
We also have a Facebook group.
WHERE IS IT?
It’s in the building marked 9 on the campus map. Go through the main entrance and head to the end of the main corridor, at the end head through the double doors with the Peer Support Centre sign above it. The Peer Support Centre is just on the right.
WHEN’S IT OPEN?
We’re open 11am-4pm Monday-Friday in term time. If you drop by and no-one’s there, wait around five minutes and if no-one turns up then drop us a note on the Facebook group.
